Solar shingles and solar panels both generate clean solar energy. But solar shingles create a sleek, low-profile aesthetic and also function as part of the roof system that protects your home. Rack-mounted solar panels are drilled into your roof system, which may increase wind uplift and may also void certain existing roof warranties.
GAF's Timberline Solar® system is designed to require little to no maintenance. The system is warrantied for diverse weather conditions such as snow, rain, and wind. Seasonal rains should help keep the solar shingles clean of dirt and debris, but if needed, homeowners can gently rinse their shingles (only when they're cool).
For monitoring your system's performance, Timberline Solar® customers can track their clean energy production by logging in to the GAF Energy customer portal. Solar roof monitoring puts data directly in customers' hands and makes it easier to readily detect any issues. This means you can easily see how much energy your roof is generating and catch any potential problems early.
Unlike traditional solar panels that can accumulate debris underneath and require more complex maintenance, GAF Solar shingles integrate seamlessly with your roof and are designed for Southern California's climate conditions, making them an ideal low-maintenance solar solution for your home.
